Family-run builders, Hampshire & Surrey

About BTW Group

BTW Group started life as Building the Way, and both names still get used — the letters simply stand for what was on the first van. The business began more than twenty years ago fitting windows and doors, and grew from there into kitchens, bathrooms, extensions, hard landscaping and full refurbishments.

Our founder’s start in the trade came earlier still, at fourteen, working in the family business — everything from cleaning fryer oil to fitting windows and doors. That’s where the work ethic came from, and it’s still how the company runs: privately owned, family-run, and answerable to the people whose homes we work in.

What hasn’t changed is that every project is personally managed, large or small. The same people who quote your job are the ones who turn up to do it, and if something isn’t right, there’s no one else to point at.

What We Do

Most projects combine several of these, which is exactly the point — you deal with one company rather than lining up a builder, an electrician and a plumber yourself. Building, electrics and plumbing are all handled in-house, so there are no gaps in the schedule waiting on somebody else’s diary.

We also take on full refurbishments — whole-house renovations, rental and buy-to-let properties, and homes being brought up to standard before sale — and we still fit windows and doors, which is where the business started.

How We Work

Most people who call us have had a bad experience with a builder before, or they’ve heard enough stories to be cautious. That’s fair enough. Here’s how we do it differently.

One contractor, not five

Building, electrics and plumbing are all handled in-house. No waiting for a sparky to become available, and no one pointing at somebody else when something isn’t right. If there’s a problem, it’s ours.

Quotes you can actually read

Every quote is itemised, so you can see what each part of the job costs and where there’s room to adjust. If something changes mid-project, we tell you what it means for the price before we do it — not afterwards.

A project manager, not just a team

Every job gets someone responsible for the schedule, the trades and the sequencing. You get one number to ring, and one person who knows the answer.

Twenty years in the same area

Most of our work now comes from people who’ve used us before, or been recommended by someone who has. That only works if you do the job properly, and it’s why we’d rather turn a job down than rush it.

Areas We Cover

We’re based in Mytchett, right on the Hampshire and Surrey border, and most of our work is within about a thirty-minute drive — Fleet, Farnham, Farnborough, Aldershot, Camberley, Church Crookham, Hartley Wintney, Yateley, Hook and Odiham.

We also work more widely across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, and we’ll happily travel further for the right project. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our area, just ask — the worst we’ll say is that we’re not the right fit.

For Kitchen and Bathroom Designers

Working With Designers

Alongside our work for homeowners, we install for design companies across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire. You win the client and keep the design; we turn up, build it to your drawings, and leave it right.

It’s the same team and the same standard as our own projects — and every project we photograph names the designer or company who designed and led it.

  • We work to your spec, not our preferences
  • One team for the whole fit — joinery, tiling, electrics and plumbing
  • Fixed, itemised pricing per project
  • You get the credit for the design
  • Coverage across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire
